MEET TERESA —

Teresa Kurth, MS, RD, LDN

Registered & Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist

Founder of Blackbird Nutrition Therapy

My path to becoming a dietitian wasn't exactly a straight one. I started college with a completely different career in mind, but once I discovered dietetics, something clicked. I've always been fascinated by food and nutrition—and, for the record, if I had to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life, it would absolutely be pasta. Becoming a dietitian gave me a way to turn that curiosity into meaningful work while still bringing plenty of my own personality to the table.
Over the years, my career has taken me through many sides of nutrition care, but the work that has stayed closest to me has been helping people navigate complicated relationships with food and their bodies. If you asked the people I've worked with what I'm like, I think they'd tell you that I lead with empathy, bring humor into the room, and I'm not afraid to tell it like it is—just always with compassion. I believe nutrition care can be thoughtful and evidence-based without feeling rigid, judgmental, or impersonal.
Those experiences ultimately led me to create Blackbird Nutrition Therapy—a space where I can provide individualized, compassionate nutrition care without expecting anyone to fit into a predetermined mold. I want the people I work with to feel heard, supported, and comfortable being themselves while we figure out what actually works for their life.
Outside of being a dietitian, I'm a mom and military spouse, which means I'm very familiar with packing up, starting over, and figuring out life in a new place. When I'm not working, you'll usually find me cooking, spending time outdoors, listening to an audiobook, or hanging out with my family and dog. One of the perks of moving around? Getting to discover all the local foods along the way—and yes, I'm always happy to hear your restaurant recommendations.

OUR APPROACH TO CARE —

Our Approach to Care

At Blackbird Nutrition Therapy, we embrace a client-led, neurodiversity-affirming approach to care grounded in the principles of Health at Every Size® (HAES®) and intuitive eating. We recognize that your experiences with food, movement, and your body are shaped by many factors, and we believe nutrition care should reflect the whole person—not simply numbers, rules, or outside expectations.

We celebrate individual differences, empowering you to navigate your relationship with food in a way that feels authentic, sustainable, and entirely your own.

Blackbird Nutrition Therapy is committed to providing an inclusive, affirming space where people of all identities and backgrounds feel respected, heard, and supported. LGBTQ+ individuals are welcomed and affirmed here, and care is always approached with curiosity, compassion, and respect for your lived experience

THE BLACKBIRD VALUES —

The Blackbird Values

At Blackbird, patient-centered, inclusive care is our nesting ground. We recognize that your history, environment, and experiences have shaped your relationship with food and your body. Together, we’ll create sustainable rhythms that fit your life, grounded in:

Reclaiming Your Song:

LOVE, RESPECT, AND SUPPORT

You are far more than just your body.

We help decrease the noise around food,

health, and body concerns so you can focus

more fully on the people, experiences,

and things that truly matter to you.

Finding Your Wings:

GROWTH OVER PERFECTION

Healing is not always linear, and progress

does not require perfection. We value

compassion and flexibility, focusing on small,

sustainable changes that create more freedom

in your relationship with food and your body.

Navigating the Sky:

EVOLVING THROUGH EVERY SEASON

Your needs change as your life changes.

We encourage curiosity and flexibility,

adapting along the way rather than

expecting one approach to work forever.

There’s Room for Something Different.

You deserve support that meets you where you are, without judgment or rigid expectations. When you’re ready, let’s start the conversation.
